To me, Sauvignon Blanc is a highly undervalued grape and wine. It seems to be waiting to be discovered here in the PNW. Certainly there are some great wines being made here, but consumers haven't caught on. An incredibly food- friendly wine, it's an opportunity waiting to happen. Thanks for bringing it to the table.
Based on what the winemakers I quoted had to say, it seems that if you make a good SB consumers will find it. I think it mostly comes down to the finances of vineyards, and what sort of prices different grapes bring. I didn't dive down that rabbit hole, but it's pretty clear that Chardonnay gets the big bucks.
Thanks for the "From the Cellar" section--great to have some comment on ageability of wines. Suspicious that two bottles from same shipment had turned...
I don't have an idea of what happened but both wines came from my cellar and a winery I had given good reviews. I'm going to include 'From The Cellar' as a regular feature. Thanks for your endorsement!
