The only 375ml bottles I regularly seek out are fortified and dessert wines. I can never seem to gracefully finish a 750ml of port, madeira or vinsanto. I love the stuff, but I don't have a lot of friends/family who do. Published advice is I have about a month to finish a bottle after opening. 375mls are no problem, but 750mls seem to be a chore. Rich people problems, I guess...
Agreed - fortified wines in 750s will keep well for a month at least after being opened. After that they're still good for reductions. Or you can open a 750, immediately pour half into a 375, put the cork in the smaller bottle and drink the other half of the 750. The problem with fortified in 375s is the schmutz factor. But I get your point.

Thanks, Paul. Schmutz factor? What's that?
Sediment!
