first piece of furniture we bought as a married couple in '94 was our cabinet style wine cellar, holds close to 20 cases. as a backup I built shelves in our crawl space for maybe 15 cases - these are a pain to get to and I only do so maybe quarterly, so I stash juice down there I do not want to drink for a few years or more.
I once concocted a plan with a friend of mine to dig a "secret" passage out the back of my wine cellar into a hidden crawl space and stash a few cases of wine back there in the hope that I'd forget about it and then rediscover it one day in the future. For years after I had a recurring dream about a hidden and inaccessible wine cellar that I had somehow forgotten about. On some occasions I actually succeeded (in my dream) in breaking into the cellar, only to find that all the bottles were gone. I wonder what Carl Jung would make of that!
Great reminder and prod to get organized, Paul. I track my small (110 bottle) "cellar" on a DIY spreadsheet. I looked at CellarTracker but decided I wanted the flexibility to track on my own.
BTW I got my Liminal allocation a while back, and picked up the Barbarous Heart GSM and voignier--was happy to see you really liked those two! Cheers, happy holidays.
Along with organizing the cellar, use dedicated software to help keep it that way and help finding the bottle you want tonight. I my case, CellarTracker has been indispensable. It's a true database program that allows for custom queries as well as its stock selections. It's easy to use and affordable.
I buy the Lydian Alto &GSM by the case, and the Justine by the bottle. Great wines from Avennia.

Thanks Bruce! I'm all in on any WeatherEye wines, but those two were real standouts. Enjoy!
"...Sort them out – by producer, by vintage or by country – put them in some sort of order..."
I respect the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics too much for that.
Also known as the 2nd law of "Where's that 99 point Cabernet I was saving for a special occasion?...

For certain types of collections that works very well. For others it might be too time intensive. But worth a try.
